Baby Menezes

We're Having A Baby!!

Found out in August that there will be a new addition to our family and we couldn't be more excited!!
I am 4 months along right now and am finally feeling a bit better (although nausea has been replaced by body aches and headaches :/ ).  took these pictures at our favorite local park, Huntington Beach Central Park...which also has the most amazing library right next to it.

These are what my Dad referred to as his "Magic Shoes" because not only did he take his first steps in them as a baby, so did I :)  So glad I have kept them all these years and can't wait to put them on our little one and see how they work.  We should find out if we're having a boy or a girl pretty soon, crossing my fingers that baby isn't sleeping or crossing it's legs at the next ultrasound!!

Sawdust Festival

I usually like to plan something fun for the weekend (we work hard, we play hard) but last week was super busy, so I didn't really have anything for us to do....and then I remembered, The Sawdust Festival is going on in Laguna Beach right now!  just a short drive down PCH too :)

We had a couple of beers, a glass of wine and ate some lunch while listening to some live music...

My favorite pieces at Sawdust are always the blown glass and ceramics, I would buy all the pretty bowls if I could.

I did end up buying a lovely little ceramic bowl from the festival to put some succulents in I had bought the day before...I love owning one of a kind pieces and actually meeting the artists that create the art, it feels special to me.

Weekend Getaway in Paso Robles

As a sort of belated birthday trip for myself, me and Daniel headed down to Paso Robles for a little weekend getaway for some wine tasting and relaxation.  It's only four hours away from where we live in Huntington Beach so it was perfect for a mini vacation.

We stayed at a little bed and breakfast on a winery in Templeton.  it was super homey and we loved it.

our favorite wineries we visited had to be Halter Ranch and Tablas Creek...delicious wines there!
It was a scorching 110 degrees in Paso Robles so I thought a glass of Rosé was appropriate.

On the way to dinner we saw some pretty horsies and we decided to say hi to them.

For dinner we went to Mcphee's Grill in Templeton on Daniel's Aunt and Uncle's recommendation.
The food did not disappoint.  I had a goat cheese stuffed chicken breast and Daniel ordered the jambalaya pasta...both were really good.

The next day we hit up a couple more wineries and then went to the Firestone Walker Brewery.  We ate lunch there and drank some good beers.  We had such a great time in Paso and the best part is it's only 4 hours away.  I hope to go back really soon, maybe when the temperature drops a bit!

Hermit Falls

So, me and Daniel really like to go on hikes on the weekend, it's always good to get outside! We especially like finding new hiking trails that we love.  Last weekend we went to Hermit Falls in the Los Angeles National Forest.  We discovered this gem last year.  Here are some pictures of the last couple of times we visited.

In the summer, hikers dive off the cliffs and into the water here, it's so scary to watch and I would probably never do it because I'm a total wuss.

The best part of this hike is that most of the way it is a shaded forest, so you don't get scorched by the sun.

The way down to the falls is all downhill,  which means the way back is ALL uphill...it gets rough towards the end, but it's a good workout.

It is really beautiful there, so far my favorite!

Our Garden Patio

So, we've been working on our back patio for the last month or so, planting flowers, succulents and herbs.  I'm so excited to be able to relax in an outdoor space of our own, looking forward to some warm summer nights.

I really wish we took a before picture of the weeds that were taking over this space, it was like a jungle.  Thankfully, Daniel got rid of them...he's working hard in his straw hat here.

We are really enjoying our gas fire pit, warm flame and no smoke.

It's going to be a good summer <3

Temecula Wineries

Last weekend was mother's day and my mom decided she wanted to spend the day at the wineries in Temecula (she really likes wine).

Her favorite winery we visited was Leoness

The last winery we visited was the Long Shadow Ranch Winery...they had horses there...
and i got to pet them.
